Waltham Planning Commission goes dark re: plans. Invasion of Vergennes theoretically possible.
WALTHAM – The Waltham Planning Commission has not publically posted minutes from their meetings since August, 2017. The mysterious silence has led to speculation as to what the crafty suburb with 531 registered voters might be planning.
While an invasion of Ferrisburgh, Panton, or Monkton seems unlikely, it pays to be cautious as one underestimates Walthamite cunning at one's own peril. A call to the Waltham Town Clerk only produced a mysterious, frightening robotic buzz that may or may not have been a fax machine. We finally reached Zoning and Planning Chair Terry Evarts (no relation to Mr. Terrance Evarts of Vergennes) and reached out under a thin pretext of neighborly concern. Evarts assured the us that minutes have been filed with state authorities within 5 days of meetings, but that they’ve fallen behind in posting on their website, which he allowed might need an update. Mr. Evarts vowed that Vergennes has nothing to fear from Waltham, but refused to rule out Ferrisburgh. Evarts offered a friendly warning, "Don't mess with Buck Mountain," (the treasure of Waltham, elevation 925). Web designers are encouraged to reach out to the Waltham Planning Commission.
